Two Color Gradient Plastic Cup Injection Mould

Focare Mould developed this two color gradient plastic cup injection mould to create a distinctive multi-tone appearance through a two-color injection moulding process.

Although the finished cup appears to have multiple color tones, the product is manufactured using PP + PP. By combining special color masterbatch, product geometry and controlled injection parameters, the cup achieves a gradual transition from darker to lighter blue.

PP + PP Two Color Injection

Unlike conventional two-color products using two different materials, this project uses PP for both injection stages.

The inner and outer sections are designed with different structures and thicknesses. Together with the selected color masterbatch, this helps create the characteristic gradient visual effect while maintaining an integrated plastic cup structure.

Based on this project design:

Inner PP weight: 22.7 g

Outer PP weight: 50 g

Gradient Effect & Mould Design

Producing a consistent gradient appearance requires more than simply changing the resin color.

The 2K mould design, product wall thickness, material flow and injection parameters must work together to achieve the required appearance.

During mould trials, injection parameters are adjusted according to the actual moulding results to control the color transition and maintain consistent product quality.
